SDU, NIC, Pune is a national Software Development Centre for NIC. The SDU has a pool of about 150 software professionals. The skill set of the staff is constantly being upgraded. Major national and state level projects are in progress at the SDU. The Unit is involved in major national projects like IFMS (Integrated Finance Management System), District Court Computerization, Agriculture and Horticulture Department Computerisation, Municipal Corporation and Council Computerization .

SDU, Pune is an Update Training Centre for conducting training for NIC technical officers. Courses for Central and State government officers are also conducted at SDU, Pune. Custom-built courses are also conducted for users and On-site training is provided on the s/w implemented at user sites .
