A three days National Meet on Grass root Informatics “VIVID: Weaving a Digital India” was organized by NIC from 8th to 10th February 2018 at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice. The theme for VIVID 2018 was ‘Cyber Security and Innovation’. Hon'ble Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology and Law & Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad conferred the Digital India Awards 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 19th December 2016. The award ceremony was graced by Minister of State Electronics and Information Technology and Law & Justice, Shri P.P. Chaudhary, Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology , AS, Electronics and Information Technology , Principle Scientific Advisor to Govt. of India and DG, NIC along with hundreds of senior officials from various Central/State Ministries/Department, District and Local Bodies representatives. Fishermen in the country will soon be issued tamper-proof and machine-readable biometric identity cards soon. The Kerala unit of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will implement the scheme as a pilot project at Munambam in Kochi in September this year.
