Aadhaar Based Public Distribution System Automation in Andhra Pradesh State

Implementation Status : The project is being implemented in all the 28262 FP shops, and 1.34 crore ration cards in the State. The ration card data has been aadhaar seeded. Beneficiary are authenticated based on Aadhaar identity infrastructure with the bio-metrics (finger print or iris) depending on the eligibility, the ration is distributed, the entire sale transactions are recorded online in the central system for close monitoring. The NFSC application has helped the Civil Supplies Department in digitising the entire ration card data base, seeding ration card data with Aadhaar, generating the dynamic key register allocating essential commodities to all eligible below poverty line families through fair price shops without any discretion or manual intervention, recording closing balances by fair price shop dealers and using the data for implementing ePoS authentication of beneficiaries.
Impact :
By using the application, the Civil Supplies Department has deactivated about several lakh ineligible units from getting the subsidised supplies on ration cards due to various reasons such as dead persons, duplicate cards, units without Aadhaar authentication, saving several crores of rupees to the exchequer every month.Implementing the e-POS system at all fair price shops across the State resulted in a saving of 30, 000 tonnes of grains worth Rs. 300 crore in a year.
